Four Pillars of Tantra Yoga

Tantra Yoga is practiced in four parts. How do you practice? Here are my reflections - looking forward to hearing yours!

  1. Mantra & Sankapala: I set an intention or sankapla at the beginning of every practice. It really helps me to set the tone for the asana and focus on the breath work. Mantras are also pretty amazing. I repeat a mantra during Kundalini practice and listen to Mantras on youtube during my savasana. The mantra sounds sends vibrations throughout my body and puts me in a very relaxing and happy place.

  2. Hatha Yoga: I practice asana couple times a week and prefer Hatha yoga. I appreciate the use of blocks and props - as it allows me to be gentle with my body during the practice and get the support I need to deepen my stretches.

  3. Kundalini Yoga: I love to practice Kundalini yoga. I enjoy the hearth centering exercises, helping to move stagnant energy and release negativity. Kundalini yoga really helps to clear my heart chakra. Feeling the energy move is really phenomenal.

  4. Rajas Yoga- Its hard to say if I’ve reached this level of yoga. The closest that I’ve come is feeling a sense of elatedness when I was in a pose and couldn’t think of anything else, or risk losing my balance and falling. I felt a sense of enlightenment because I was meditating in the pose, focusing on my breath work, aligning breath to movement, and letting go of all the chatter, white noise and chitti vritti around me.
